Hurricane Iota roared ashore as a dangerous Category 4 storm along almost exactly the same stretch of Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast that was devastated by an equally powerful Hurricane Eta 13 days earlier.
We are accepting donations now until November 25, 2020. Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala have been deeply impacted by Hurricane Eta and Iota, causing landslides and lots of flooding, leaving most of Central America devastated.
Hurricane Eta made landfall off the coast of Nicaragua in November as a category 4 hurricane before slowly moving across Honduras and then Guatemala. Some areas saw as much as 550mm of rain (22inches) leading to landslides and flooding.
Tropical Storm Epsilon has formed in the central Atlantic Ocean and is expected to intensify into a hurricane before tracking close to Bermuda late this week. Epsilon is forecast to strengthen and become the Atlantic’s 10th hurricane of the season by midweek.
